Should I use Zaraz or a Cloudflare Worker?
Use Zaraz if you want a no-code setup in the dashboard. Use a Worker with HTMLRewriter if you want the script in your own version control, need to limit it to certain paths, or already run Workers on the route.
What does the Cloudflare Worker look like?
The Worker fetches the original response and, when it is HTML, passes it through new HTMLRewriter().on("body", { element(el) { el.append(snippet, { html: true }); } }).transform(response). Every other response passes through untouched.
Does injecting at the edge slow my site down?
HTMLRewriter streams the page as it passes through, so it does not wait for the full response before sending it on. The widget itself loads in the visitor’s browser like any other script tag.
